Calligraphy and Lantern Making Event

The Chinese character Fu () means happiness, blessing, and good fortune. People across China have the tradition of pasting this character on their doors or windows during the Spring Festival to greet the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Chinese New Year couplets, also known as duilian, are a unique literary form in traditional Chinese culture. Typically written in a parallel structure, they express festive blessings and good wishes through concise wording, becoming an indispensable decoration in every household during the Chinese New Year.

UCA invited calligrapher Mr. Henry Chen to write the “Fu” and couplets on the spot, improvisationally wielding the calligraphy brush, to deliver New Year blessings to the community residents.
